The PhD defence will be in Abels utsikt - Niels Henrik Abels hus. The host of the session will moderate the technicalities while the chair of the defence will moderate the disputation.
Ex auditorio questions: the chair of the defence will invite the audience to ask questions ex auditorio at the end of the defence.
Trial lecture

Shor’s algorithm for factoring and discrete logarithm
Main research findings
Quantum error correction deals with the inherent problem of noise when employing quantum technology. This thesis is split into two parts, both being central to questions in quantum error correction. The first part of the thesis concerns itself with the study of three classes of quantum codes. A quantum code is a method of encoding information to minimise the exposure to noise. By using methods from projective representation theory, we are able to prove results relating these three classes of codes with each other. We are furthermore able to asses their error correcting abilities using these mathematical tools. The second part of the thesis deals with the notion of distance between quantum-communication channels. A notion of distance in this setting allows one to give concrete values to "how noisy" a channel is. Our main findings in this direction give surprising connections to noncommutative geometry.
