Jeremiah Heller (UIUC): Power Operations and Motivic Rings
Recently Tom Bachmann and Marc Hoyois have developed a theory of
normed motivic ring spectra. These are motivic E_oo ring spectra which
admit multiplicative transfers for finite etale morphisms. Examples
include many of our favorite rings: the sphere spectrum, KGL, MGL, HZ.
I'll discuss an approach to motivic norms via equivariant motivic
homotopy theory and an ensuing construction of power operations on
normed motivic rings. Most of this is based on joint work with Tom
Bachmann and Elden Elmanto.
