CIMPA Steering Council visits UiO

A two-days meeting of the Steering Council for Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA).

The Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA) is an international nonprofit organisation that aims to promote and develop research in mathematics and computational science. CIMPA seeks to support and encourage young mathematicians, especially those from developing countries, and to promote the education in mathematics and its applications in the various fields, with the ultimate goal of advancing mathematics as a tool for understanding and solving the world's problems.

CIMPA values international cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and ideas between mathematicians from different countries and cultures. Norway has been a member of CIMPA for 10 years, since 2012, represented by the Norwegian Mathematical Society and funding from the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. On occasion of this anniversary, the steering council of CIMPA is visiting UiO and meets in Abels Utsikt, at the top floor of the Niels Henrik Abel's hus, which houses the Department of Mathematics at UiO.
