Mathematics Master Seminar 1

To 1st semester master students!

Are you navigating the start of your academic journey and feeling a bit lost? Do you want to get a preview of what is expected of you over the next two years? Master Seminar 1 in mathematics is here to help. This is the 1st of a seminar series given by the Science Library and Department of Mathematics, to keep you on track throughout your master’s studies.

The aims of the seminar series are to:

  • develop your professional competencies
  • support you in achieving your goals with your master studies
  • meet your peers
  • keep you on track to deliver a great thesis!

Along your master's journey, we will cover topics such as literature search, scientific writing, referencing practices, presentation strategies, project planning, AI use, and more. The seminars will consist of a combination of lectures, activities, discussions, invited speakers/panels, and socializing.

In this first workshop, you will learn about what it means to do a research project, tips on choosing your project, and how to plan out the next 2 years.

Furthermore, we will hear advice from a former master's student on how to make the most out of your master's journey, as well as from professors on how to get started and what you should be working towards in the end.

Plus, you will learn about all the ways the library can help enrich your academic life and achieve your goals. For those who are interested, join us for a tour of the Science Library after the seminar. :)
