About the project
In collaboration with AtLAST, this project investigates the components performance, the materials capacity, and operations of energy storage systems at the prospective altitude of the designed telescope. In particular, this project addresses sustainability and research challenges complementary to the EU project AtLAST.
Objectives
- Investigate the effect of air density and humidity conditions in the Atacama desert into the components performances;
- Synthesise and characterise hydrides tailored to the desired requirements;
- Compare theoretical modelling on influence of high altitude on the storage system´s performance with real data
The project is line with the vision and goals outlined in the UiO Strategy 2030, to increase impact in the green value creation and the decarbonization of the energy sector; and in line with UiO:Energy and Environment´s main objective to develop knowledge towards sustainable energy systems.
