Through my research, my focus is on making a meaningful contribution to carbon neutrality efforts and ensuring that all communities, including those in remote/off-grid areas, have access to affordable carbon-free electricity.

As renewable energy technologies mature and become more cost-effective than carbon-based electricity generation options, researchers are increasingly focused on designing and optimizing future net-zero energy systems using macro-energy models that traditionally prioritize techno-economic criteria. However, while these considerations address cost-effective net-zero energy systems, they often overlook critical challenges and questions related to fair and inclusive energy transition, social aspects, and energy justice implications.

My postdoctoral fellowship involves examining the potential for an inclusive and efficient future net-zero energy system, particularly considering the often overlooked perspectives of adolescents. As part of the collaborative project “Wind for Future,” we aim to answer the question: What type of energy systems do young people envision for their future? To achieve this, we are conducting workshops with young people, integrating their input into a high temporal and spatial resolution power system model (highRES), and envisioning sub-optimal but inclusive future net-zero energy systems.

Before joining the University of Oslo, I completed my PhD at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, focusing on exploring and assessing the techno-economic and environmental viability of renewable energy-based off-grid power systems. My research interests encompass energy systems modeling, particularly in the context of high penetration of variable renewables, multi-objective optimization, socio-techno-economic-environmental analysis, and statistical data analysis. I am passionate about engaging in interdisciplinary work and integrating social sciences into energy systems modeling.

I have published numerous articles in international peer-reviewed SCI Journals, which have received positive recognition from the scientific community, as evidenced by citation scores on platforms like Google Scholar and Research Gate. I have been involved in collaborative international research projects with MDH University, Västerås, Sweden; AGH University, Poland; Universidad de La Costa, Colombia, Texas A&M University; and Edith Cowan University Australia. I welcome collaborating in energy/power systems modeling, especially in net-zero energy systems, and integrating social justice aspects within renewable energy systems. My LinkedIn profile.
