The conference is part of a joint French-Norwegian conference series on curves and surfaces. In Norway previous meetings were held in Oslo 1988, Biri 1991, Ulvik 1994, Lillehammer 1997, Oslo 2000, Tromsø 2004, Tønsberg 2008, Oslo 2012, and Tønsberg 2016. In France the last meeting was in Arcachon 2018.

The format of the conference is informal and invites discussion of ideas and work in progress.

Time and place: Sep. 7, 2020 8:00 AMSep. 9, 2020 4:00 PM, Wolfgang Pauli Institute, Vienna

On 7-9 September 2020, the conference on high-dimensional stochastics will take place at the Wolfgang Pauli Institute (WPI) in Vienna, Austria. The conference is an activity within the thematic program "Mathematics for Risk in Finance and Energy" at the WPI.

We aim to bring together an interdisciplinary group of leading researchers with interest in high dimensional stochastic modeling. Particular emphasis will be given to infinite dimensional Markov processes, SPDEs, population dynamics, high dimensional statistics and connections to financial and energy modeling. We welcome participants from academia and industry to take part in this event.

pre-conference PhD course will be organized on Monday September 7. The course is related to the topics of the conference and will be given by Christa Cuchiero.  More details on the course will be announced soon.

We invite you to a two-day seminar celebrating Professor Ørnulf Borgans many and substantial contributions to statistics in general and life event history analysis in particular. The seminar takes place in Auditorium 2 in Helga Engs House, Blindern Campus, University of Oslo, from Monday May 25th 11:00 to Tuesday May 26th, 14:00, 2020. The seminar has been postponed due to the corona-epidemics. We will announce a new date as soon as possible.

For the seminar we have invited several of Ørnulf's key collaborators to give talks. We hope many other colleagues, students and friends will participate in this celebration of Ørnulf and his outstanding career as Professor of Statistics at the University of Oslo.

A winter workshop in numerical methods for PDEs on the occasion of Ragnar Winther’s 70th birthday

Connes' embedding problem is one of the long standing open problems in Operator Algebras. Since it was raised in 1976, several equivalent formulations, seemingly unrelated to it, have been found, also in other areas of mathematics. In particular, it is equivalent to the (weak) Tsirelson problem in Quantum Information Theory

The aim of the winter school is to upgrade the knowledge of all operator algebraists at NTNU and UiO, in particular master and PhD students, on these important topics and to review some of the recent developments.

The school is a part of the project "Pure Mathematics in Norway, 2018-2022", supported by the Bergen Research Foundation and the Tromsø Research Foundation.
