Eivind Straume

Eivind Straume joined PHAB as a postdoctoral researcher in October 2025. He works on paleogeographic reconstructions for the Phanerozoic (540 Ma–present), aiming to link solid Earth changes to oceanographic and climatic variations, as well as biological evolution and Earth habitability through geological time.

Eivind is a geophysicist working interdisciplinarily on global plate tectonics, geodynamics, paleoenvironmental reconstructions, and paleoceanography/paleoclimate. He focuses on building global digital elevation models over geological timescales and quantifying the relative role of topographic changes on climate using paleo-ocean/Earth system model simulations. He holds a PhD in geophysics/geodynamics/paleoclimate from CEED-UiO (2020). Prior to joining PHAB, he was the Distinguished PLATES-4D postdoctoral fellow at UT Austin (2021–2023) and a postdoctoral researcher on the DOTPaleo project at NORCE/UiB (2023–2025).
