Lucie Degott works on the magnetic activity of low-mass stars, including stars similar to the Sun. Her research focuses on stellar spots, which are dark features that appear on the surfaces of stars as a result of strong magnetic fields emerging from their interiors. She studies these phenomena using photometric light curves, which reveal how a star’s brightness varies over time.
In addition, Lucie works with global three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations of stars. Her goal is to connect these simulations with both simulated and observed light curves in order to better understand what stellar spots can reveal about stellar magnetism and the dynamo processes responsible for generating magnetic fields inside stars.
Lucie has her PhD from the Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale (IAS) in Paris Saclay University.
