Travelling to Oslo

The easiest way to get to Oslo is by airplane. There is also possible to get here via ferry from Denmark or Germany or by busses or train from Sweden.

By ferry

By train/bus

From Oslo Airport to city centre

The train connection between Oslo city centre and Oslo Airport takes about 22-25 minutes. There are two services: Airport Express Train (external link) and Vy (external link) (Line R10, R11 and L12 usually leaving from track 4). The Airport Express Train is a bit more comfortable, but also a bit more expensive. Both have free WiFi (but its better on the express train). They both take roughly the same time. You should buy the ticket before entering (unless you enter a wagon that has ticket sales). The Vy ticket to Oslo City Centre is also valid on the subway, tram and busses within the city center. This is not true for the airport express train.

The prices are in the range 100-200 NOK (~10-20€). Visit Flytoget webpage (external link), or Vy.no homepage (external link) for more info.

If you arrive or leave in the night time, please, check timetables in advance to see if public transportation is an option. Last trains depart from the airport around midnight.

There are typically a lot of taxis at the airport. Make sure you agree on the price with the driver before leaving the airport (all companies should have fixed prices to the city center). Prices are in the 700-1000 NOK (~70-100€) range.

Hotels

We have a variety of accommodation possibilities in Oslo. There are a lot of free rooms in Oslo in April, but please book early as the rooms are subject to availability. It is a good idea, in case you get covid and cannot come, to make sure you choose a booking that allows you to cancel it without having to pay in full.

A limited number of rooms have been reserved for the conference participants in the hotels or hostel listed below:

Booking by March 11 will best guarantee a room in your preferred hotel at the conference price. Reservations, changes and cancellations should be made directly to the hotel. The reservations are payable at the hotel in cash or by credit card. Cancellation terms might be different in each hotel, please check the terms when booking your hotel room, but generally (now that covid restrictions have ended), most hotels do not have free cancellation anymore. We therefore recommend booking the hotels yourself. However, if you have booked through us and have to cancel, and the hotel turn out not to have a free cancellation policy, then get in touch as soon as possible, and we will help you out to try to move your booking to another person free of charge. All prices are per room per night and include breakfast as well as VAT.

If you have a tight budget, then a good option is CityBox. It's a simple hotel in the centre of Oslo and close to the venue and the price is typically ~70-80 €  per night (no breakfast)

Electric Scooters

These annoying things are hard to miss as they are almost everywhere. Oslo has currently 8000 electric scooters spread around town (luckily down from 23000 after a new law just passed). Very convenient for short trips. If you are into this kind of stuff, the companies operating in Oslo are Ryde, Sharebike, Bydue, Tier, and Voi. You can find the related apps in the appstore.

Visa information

Norway is part of the Schengen area. Citizens of EU countries do not need a visa, but a valid passport is required. Citizens of other countries kindly contact the nearest Norwegian Embassy for further information.
The congress organizers will send a proof of registration as soon as the full registration fee has been received. The confirmation document will serve as your invitation letter when applying for the visa. The organizers will assist applicants if needed in the visa application process. If you know you will be needing visa for your entry in Norway, please start the application process in good time.
