I am Takamasa Sakai from Japan. I worked as a pharmacist in the pharmaceutical information center and obtained a Ph.D. degree in pharmacy while working. My doctoral research focused on the utilization of spontaneous reporting databases on drug safety surveillance during pregnancy. Thereafter, I’ve been working as a member of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Meijo University in Japan.

Over the last decade, my primary research focus has been pharmacovigilance, specifically the utilization and analysis of spontaneous reporting databases. This work has kindled my interest in conducting more rigorous epidemiological studies and led me to the current research stay at the University of Oslo from April 2024 to March 2025.

I am honored to have been selected for the International Alliance for PharmacoGenetic Epidemiology Excellence (iAPOGEE) Visiting Scholarship Program 2024 at the University of Oslo. I look forward to collaborating with researchers and students in the PharmaSafe research group.
