Ane Kristine Espeseth

Doctoral Research Fellow - Center for Computing in Science Education

Academic interests

I'm interested in the emergence, evolution and dynamics of cognitive abilities, both in biological and artificial brains.

For my PhD, I'm exploring various concept-based and mechanistic interpretability methods (e.g. contextual embeddings and neural circuits) to better understand how large language models (LLMs) process and reproduce information.

Previously I have worked on computational models for child language acquisition (Bachelor dissertation), evolutionary methods for adaptive social behaviour in LLM chatbots (Master thesis), as well as smaller projects on bio-inspired algorithms. I have also done some joint research in abstract mathematics.
