Academic interests

  • Physics professors' instructional practice and assessment of computation in the university-level physics curriculum
  • Secondary mathematics and science pre-service teachers' preparation and readiness to teach disciplinary computational thinking.

Background

Hannah Christine came to the CCSE in 2020. Now, her research focuses on how university professors assess their physics' students understanding of computational physics. Additionally, she researches pre-service teachers' preparation to integrate computational thinking into their disciplinary teaching. She got her start in Physics Education Research (PER) as an undergraduate learning assistant at Seattle Pacific University. There, she studied university students' conceptual resources on the topic of energy. She holds a PhD in PER from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her dissertation focused on using discourse analysis to study inequities in small group interactions.

Outside Interests

When she's not working, Hannah Christine enjoys running, hiking, and reading.
