UiO MiNaLab: Infrastructure, Research and Opportunities

By Dr. Simon Cooil, Department of Physics/SMN, UiO

Abstract:

UiO MiNaLab is the university’s premier infrastructure for research in micro- nano- and quantum technology. As part of the national infrastructure for micro- and nanofabrication (NorFab), MiNaLab supports both academic and industrial research at UiO, nationally and internationally. The seminar will provide an overview of MiNaLab’s cleanroom infrastructure, core process and characterisation capabilities, highlight selected research activities and demonstrate how research is conducted at the facility. The aim is to give a practical understanding of what MiNaLab can offer, and how it can be utilized in your current and future research activities.

Biography:

Simon Cooil - Laboratory Manager of UiO MiNaLab and researcher at the Department of Physics/SMN. He received his PhD from Aberystwyth University, Wales, in 2013 on the growth of graphene on diamond surfaces, and has since worked in the fields of photovoltaics, power electronics and quantum materials, utilizing photoelectron spectroscopy techniques throughout. His focus is on tailoring novel semiconductor properties for emerging technologies.
