Abstract:
In 2024, more investments are put into new solar power (PV) plants than into all other forms of power plants based on any technology combined. In this lecture, an update on the current status of the PV industry, a discussion of the main challenges and opportunities ahead, and a discussion of how R&D plays a crucial role ahead will be given.
Biography:
Professor Erik Stensrud Marstein is Chief Scientist in Solar Energy at the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) in Norway, director of the Research Center for Sustainable Solar Cell Technology (FME SUSOLTECH), the Norwegian PV Research Center (FME SOLAR), and Professor II in solar cell technology at the University of Oslo. He has been working at IFE in R&D in the field of PV since 2003. He has authored and co-authored more than 150 research papers in the field, in addition to several patents. He has also supervised a large number of M.Sc. and PhD students, many of which today work in the industry. Most of his research has been performed in close collaboration with industry partners.
At 11.45 we will start with the grand opening of the Large Physics Study Hall, followed by celebratory cake and coffee/tea serving from 12:00 to 12.15. The talk starts shortly after.
