Abstract:
Scientific breakthroughs in fields such as micro- and nanotechnology, biotechnology, AI, and quantum technology create new opportunities for deep technology innovation. Yet turning promising ideas into products, services, or companies is rarely straightforward. Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience at SINTEF, Strisland will share lessons from translating research into practical solutions, with examples from sensor technology and health innovation. The lecture explores how a an excellent idea alone is not enough, it must also be combined with successful navigation of complex stakeholder ecosystems to achieve real-world impact.
Biography:
Frode Strisland received his Dr.ing. degree in experimental materials physics from NTNU in 1998. He is a Senior Scientist at SINTEF Digital, working on sensor technology and health technology innovation, and coordinates SINTEF's health technology research activities. He is also Assoc. Prof II at UiO, where he teaches the course MEMS and electronics packaging (FYS3260/4260).
