Non-prompt J/\(\psi\) from beauty hadrons, decaying weakly, can be experimentally identified via their secondary decay vertices, spatially displaced relative to the primary collision vertices. More precise information is obtained using fully reconstructed beauty hadrons, for instance the mesons B+/- and B0, which decay into a non-prompt J/\(\psi\) plus a charged kaon (K+/-) and a neutral kaon (K0s), respectively, with the K0s finally decaying into a \(\pi^+ \pi^-\) pair. The current master project would aim at extraction of the B0 signal in pp collisions, where the combinatorial background from charged hadrons paired with the J/\(\psi\) signal is low, and take advantage of the large pp data sets collected, and the improved vertexing capabilities, since the advent of LHC Run 3. The study will involve an optimisation of extraction parameters, potentially using machine learning techniques.
