Norway's first proton therapy centre is currently under construction at the Norwegian Radium Hospital in Oslo. We study advanced proton beam optics and novel modalities for delivering proton beams with optimal dose distributions. As master student you will investigate proton beam therapy from the accelerator physics point of view, applying methodology developed for particle physics experiments to proton therapy. In your project you will learn to use beam physics tools such as MADX to simulate particle beams and beam optics. The project will be done in collaboration with the Oslo biophysics group.
