Numerical methods for Fokker–Planck equations arising from underdamped Langevin dynamics

This project develops new numerical methods for kinetic Fokker–Planck equations arising from underdamped Langevin dynamics, central in statistical mechanics and molecular dynamics. Instead of solving directly for the probability density, it uses a recent “Schrödingerisation” framework: the problem is embedded into a larger Schrödinger-type system for a wave function, and the physical density is recovered as a quadratic marginal. This preserves key structural properties (positivity, conservation, equilibrium) and allows the use of efficient numerical schemes for Schrödinger equations.
