MR physicists work with MRI technology and physics, image quality and optimization, implementation of new methods into clinics and research. We are often involved in research projects, in the beginning, but also in image analysis and interpretation, with special knowledge of MRI sequences and image artefacts.
We can offer many interesting tasks, such as:
• Image quality project: Evaluation of images optimized with denoising and artefact removal using deep learning reconstruction amongst other methods – in phantom and brain images. Continuation of a master's degree project currently underway (NTNU biophysics student, 20 weeks). Further work on implementing the MRIQC tool (MRIQC) in clinical workflow (on Crai's NeoMedSys platform is a goal), as well as using it as an optimization tool for medical physicists prior to implementation of sequences in clinic and research.
• Evaluation of different MR sequences optimized for improved T2 contrast with lesion detection and counting tools (LST-AI, NeuroQuant-MS).
• Data analysis of arterial spin labeling (ASL) methods – a non-contrast enhanced perfusion method to study blood flow in the brain. Data from different clinical cohorts such as dementia and MS.
• Quantitative susceptibility mapping and chronic active lesions in MS. Working closely with neurologists and neuro-radiologists.
