Welcome to Hammer Talks, the bi-monthly lunch seminar on all things geology at the Department of Geosciences. Join in person or online via Zoom – and bring your lunch!
This Thursday, Postdoctoral researcher at the Sedimentary Basins section, Simon Blondel, will showcase brand new seismic data from a recent scientific cruise in the Caribbean. He will introduce the methods used to process and visualize the seismic structure of a tectonically complex region, all while still being on board the research vessel. So if you think it was all tanning and relaxing in the sun – think again!
- Time and place: Thursday 7th November 2024, 12:15 – 13:00, Undergrunnen U16, Geologibygningen
- Speaker: Simon Blondel (Study of sedimentary Basins section, University of Oslo)
- Title: Introduction to on-board marine seismic processing – the 2024 HAITI TWIST survey

About Hammer Talks
For the past few years, Hammer Talks have been a regular geology lunch seminar arranged by the Basins section. We now want to expand them into a meeting platform for all geology-interested staff at the Department of Geosciences. The idea is to have regular informal interaction across the different sections/groups in order to spark scientific discussion and collaboration.
