Hammer Talks are a regular lunch seminar on all things geology at the Department of Geosciences. Join in person or online via Zoom – and bring your lunch, coffee, etc.!
It’s time to let your inner palaeontologist/fossil freak/grave robber out! This Thursday afternoon, Professor Hans Arne Nakrem (Natural History Museum, Oslo) is coming by to tell of the exciting discoveries and excavations of fossils in Svalbard through the past 20 years. The Spitsbergen Mesozoic Research Group has uncovered a wealth of knowledge, covering both microscopic forams and gargantuan marine reptiles. So be welcome for a tale of arctic fieldwork, new methods, and international collaboration in palaeontology.

About Hammer Talks
For the past few years, Hammer Talks have been a regular geology lunch seminar arranged by the Basins section. We now want to expand them into a meeting platform for all geology-interested staff at the Department of Geosciences. The idea is to have regular informal interaction across the different sections/groups in order to spark scientific discussion and collaboration.
