Partnership in practice
Background
Co-creation and student-staff partnership has received much attention as alternatives to more traditional teacher - student relationships, emphasizing collaboration, shared decision-making, and mutual responsibility in the learning process. The Partnership in practice project started in 2022 as an initiative with the Centre for Excellence in Education iEarth to explore partnership pedagogical approaches to learning and co-creation (a type of partnership) in geoscience in higher education in Norway. What happends when the partnership approach is translated into a Norwegian educational context?
Project goals and approaches
Three themes were selected as particularly interesting for the study and reserch questions were developed: teacher and student experiences of partnership, the role of student compensations in partnership practices, and the impact of partnership practices on assessment. The themes revolve around trying to understand the unique perspectives and experiences of the students and staff involved in co-creation and partnership. To this end, a qualitative approach focusing on interviews was used.
