Event description
During the night between 16 and 17 July 1951, an
icefall estimated at 4 - 5 Mio m3 produced a first leakage of the morainic dam. The level of the lake was lowered by 7 m,
with the escape of 1.13 Mio m3 of water, which raised the level of Laguna
Paron by 0.70 m. Regressive erosion caused the final
rupture of the dam, three month later.
