We are pleased to invite all interested to the official opening of the VISTA centre VICCO at University of Oslo on Friday the 6th of December.
The new VICCO centre VICCO at University of Oslo, got the VISTA funding as one of two Vista centre sin 2024. The VISTA program allocates funds for research on issues related to the energy transition, and grants can be awarded to both scientific and social science research. The VICCO center is grounded in scientific science, geology, geophysics and physics. The center has a duration of five years and is financed, among other sources, with 25 million NOK through the VISTA agreement.
VICCO aims to explore the potential for large-scale permanent CO2 storage on the Norwegian Continental Self through carbonate mineral-forming reactions. Such carbonatization may enhance seal integrity and reduce reservoir leakage risks in mixed volcanic-sedimentary systems.
The centre is led by Henrik Hovland Svensen, Professor of Geology at Department of Geosciences at The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo.
