Researcher Schools
The national Norwegian research schools, funded by the Norwegian Research Council, are intended to raise the quality and relevance of doctoral education through collaboration in networks.
The research schools provide good arenas where PhD candidates from different institutions can meet. The schools offer access to activities such as researcher courses, seminars, workshops, summer and winter schools, and exchanges/mobility. Participation in these activities can be funded by the schools.
At the Department of Informatics, several candidates participate in:
- NORA – Norwegian AI Research School
- DIGIT – Norway’s Research School in Digitalization, Culture and Society

There are also a number of relevant research schools internationally. The different research groups at the department are usually familiar with these.
PhD candidates may include research courses and summer and winter schools as part of their educational component. It is, however, important to be aware that the Department of Informatics assesses the number of credits/ECTS to be awarded based on the scope of the activity.
