xAI for Sleep Medicine

We investigate in the Respire project (https://www-adm.mn.uio.no/ifi/english/research/projects/respire/index.html?vrtx=admin) the use explainable AI for analysis of data that has been obtained by monitoring patients during sleep. Two classes of data are collected in the project from polysomnography of infants (see https://www.titan.uio.no/innovasjon/2025/noen-barn-slutter-a-puste-om-natten.html) and from a simulation bench and a mechanical ventilator (see https://www.titan.uio.no/innovasjon/2025/noen-barn-slutter-a-puste-om-natten.html). In this context we have various research topics for Master Thesis including:

  • Development of xAI solutions and their evaluation:
The core task would be to get aquainted with the relevant literature, select a promising solution, implement, and evaluate it. Obviously, knowledge with ML/AI is necessary for this type of thesis.

It is our approach that we develop together with interested candidates the Thesis focus together.
