Passkeys are the new authentication solution that aims to eliminate passwords and all their vulnerabilities. Most major online services support passkeys. Moreover, password managers allow users to manage their passkeys across different devices. A relevant question is therefore whether passkeys help to prevent password vulnerabilities in practice. Another important aspect is the usability of passkeys which is a key factor in the success of this technology. This thesis may include the following research activities:
- To investigate how passkeys are integrated into the authentication system of online services
- To analyse the usability of passkey management tools
