Software Security in Quantum Software Engineering

This thesis will explore how well-known software vulnerabilities and security risks may appear or evolve in the context of quantum software development. As quantum programming languages and tools (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, Q#) mature, they introduce new abstractions and hybrid classical–quantum interfaces that may reshape existing threat models. The project will take a theoretical approach, combining insights from traditional software security research with emerging literature on quantum software engineering. The goal is to identify which established vulnerability types are likely to remain relevant, which may manifest differently, and where new risks could emerge. The outcome will be a conceptual framework outlining potential security concerns and directions for secure quantum software design.
