Our company is working with partners on the development of infrared imaging systems for aerospace and industrial applications. Our partners work in automation of operations in agriculture and forestry, where new machines need cameras and other sensors. Our task is to provide a thermal infrared camera based on microbolometer arrays. The camera shall integrate with the machine control systems and warn about humans and animals near the machine. Although, a large part of the hardware work has already been implemented, there remains a good opportunity for candidates to contribute and bring in their ideas.
The Master's degree topic is the integration of firmware (FW) and software (SW) for the control, data transfer, and video processing from the thermal infrared camera for the use of people detection in the machines. The camera shall be interfaced with robot operating system (ROS). You will work with the IDEAS Team, starting from existing camera hardware, and develop new FW and embedded SW for the SoM TE720, interface to ROS computer via UDP/RTP, and characterise the camera.
The candidate must be fluent in Python, C/C++ and should enjoy imaging and scientific data analysis.
