Background:
We aim to explore innovative human-computer interaction methods using a sensor system integrated into furniture. The setup includes radar sensors mounted in a chair and table, and an RGB+Depth (RGBD) camera rig. By leveraging these sensors, we aim to infer sitting postures for various applications such as ergonomics, gesture recognition, and furniture design.
Work Description:
You will develop a radar measurements system based around existing radar hardware to distinguish between different sitting postures. You will explore if knowledge of a person’s shape and size, which can be obtained from the RGBD-data, will increase the ability to detect sitting posture accurately. The work might also include generation of synthetic training data by modelling radar wave propagation.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Python; C++ experience is a plus
- Familiarity with signal processing and embedded sensor systems is advantageous
Learning outcome:
- Embedded sensor system development
- Human-centered design and ergonomics
- Advanced gesture recognition systems
