Background:
In this project you will work on human posture and shape measurements using a combination of radar and RGB+Depth (RGBD) sensors. The RGBD system provides an accurate point cloud of the surface of a clothed person. In contrast, the radar signal penetrates clothing and reflects off the skin surface. This multi-modal sensor combination enables more precise body shape measurements for various applications in human body modeling and interaction.
Work Description:
You will develop methods to align radar measurements with the RGBD coordinate frame, allowing the two systems to complement each other. In collaboration with SINTEF researchers, you'll integrate radar signals to refine the human body surface measurements, leveraging radar's ability to see through clothing.
Required Skills:
- Strong programming experience, preferentially in Python.
- Familiarity with 3D point-clouds and coordinate transformations is advantageous
Learning outcome:
- Advanced motion capture technology development
- Human body modelling for healthcare or ergonomics
- Collaborative research in sensor fusion systems
