A data space is a decentralized environment in which multiple organizations can share and access data while retaining control over their own data and defining the conditions under which it can be used. When interacting with data spaces, participating organizations remain data providers and consumers, and common rules and technical mechanisms allow them to exchange data in a trusted and interoperable way. In recent years, standards for such interactions have been created, e.g., under the International Data Spaces Association. In this thesis, we take as a starting point the informal description in the standards for such interactions to build formal models using, e.g., pi-calculus or transition systems to further analyse them to increase trustworthiness.
