Physical Design of Digital Stories

Technofossil (Årsand, 2024)

Our technologies consist of various components made from minerals sourced globally. Also the digital services they provide, rely on physical materials and land. These are deeply connected aspects that are not immediately visible or accessible through the design of digital objects and technologies. So, how can we understand the stories behind our digital devices and technologies?

This can be explored through the Materials Library of Stones, which aims to showcase the materialities of our digital technologies. This flexible space encourages visitors and designers to participate in its constantly evolving design process.

Some relevant methods and theories could be Systems Thinking, Systemic Design, and Critical Theory / Critical Design.
