Collaboration with University of Oslo and Sonitor, as a part of the Chips JU listen2future.eu project.
We in Sonitor are a part of the listen2future project, working with new MEMS transducer technology. Our contribution to the consortium is to map a room to define the size. This information will be used to automatically set the volume of our Real Time Location Systems and simplify installation processes and maintenance.
Our methods involve an active system with a transmit and receive part, doing pulse-echo with ultrasound in air. In this master's thesis, you will be able to support and explore methods to improve our transmit side of the system, working with new state-of-the-art transducer technology as a part of Sonitor and the listen2future team across Europe.
The transducers have a center frequency of 50 kHz, with some variation. Your work will involve exploring the effects of the variation of the transducers, before characterizing and calibrating them. You will be working with developing and exploring beamforming methods for the transmit side of the system. This will possibly involve defining a suggestion for our transducer array shape on the transmit side.
In short, you will be able to;
- Characterize, calibrate and explore new, state-of-the-art transducers
- Work as a part of our team at Sonitor
- Work as a part of the L2F consortium

We in Sonitor have a desire for the student to work at our offices at Lysaker a few days per week. This can be adjusted as per need, but the electronic gear will be situated at Drammensveien 288. We in Sonitor may require a security check of the master's student for this project.
