Head of Department Cecilie Rolstad Denby is the department’s highest executive officer and leads the department’s activities within the framework set by the University Board, the faculty’s plans, and instructions from the Dean, as well as through decisions adopted by the Department Board.
Deputy Head and Acting Head Paal Engelstad serves as deputy to the Head of Department and assumes the Head’s duties and authority during extended absences. He is also the Deputy Chair of the Department Board.
Director of Education Matylda N.Guzik leads the department’s educational activities in consultation with, and by delegation from, the Head of Department.
Director of Research Marianne Zeyringer is responsible for strengthening the department’s strategic research activities by further developing the department’s research profile and maintaining a high international standard.
Chair of the PhD Committee Paal Engelstad leads the PhD Committee and is responsible for the announcement of positions, applications for admission, doctoral defenses, and quality assurance of the department’s doctoral education.
Head of Administration Marit Tronstad is responsible for managing the department’s administrative and governance-related work in consultation with, and by delegation from, the Head of Department.
