jotne_3: Physics-Based Machine Learning Framework for Solar Array and Payload Sensor Degradation Modeling and Life Expectancy Prediction

AIM: To develop a hybrid physics-based and Machine Learning framework that accurately models, predicts, and quantifies the long-term degradation of satellite solar arrays and high-criticality sensors (such as Fine Sun Sensors and optical detectors).

Required Data & Inputs

  • Solar Array power generation data (Voltage, Current, Temperature, Orbital position/beta angle).
  • Sensor telemetry logs
  • Manufacturer data sheets and environmental radiation exposure models (e.g., Space Debris, UV, Atomic Oxygen, Total Ionizing Dose).

Objectives

  • Build mathematical physics-based baseline models for solar cells or other sensors for prediction.
  • Develop data-driven Machine Learning algorithms to capture non-linear, unpredictable degradation dynamics from orbital telemetry. Perform delta and uncertainty analysis
  • Fuse physics-based models with real-time operational data to predict remaining useful life (RUL) for different sensors.
