Haluk Sengun: Theta correspondence via group C*-algebras

Abstract: Theta correspondence is a major theme in the theory of automorphic forms and in representation theory. The local version of the correspondence sets up a bijection between certain subsets of admissible duals of suitable pairs of reductive groups. In recent works with Magnus Goffeng and Bram Mesland, we have shown that theta correspondence can be implemented by a C*-correspondence of group C*-algebras. In this talk, I will explain the basic theory of theta correspondence and will exhibit the underlying C*-correspondence. Time permitting, I will mention some representation theoretic applications.
