Henrikke Gedde Rustad: Cellular Automata and their C*-algebras

Abstract: I will present my master thesis. The thesis explores how to obtain C*-algebras from 1-dimensional cellular automata. By combining perspectives from operator theory, groupoid theory, and the theory for dynamical systems, we get an overview of different types of C*-algebras that can be constructed from an n-to-1 cellular automaton. We go on to investigate their structure and interconnectedness in some specific cases, including instances where these algebras are isomorphic and simple.
