Are you fascinated by Earth, the solar system and beyond?
Discover the Kepler seminars!
Through the Kepler Lecture Series, we at the Centre for Planetary Habitability (PHAB) invite internationally renowned scholars to the University of Oslo (UiO) to explore and discuss what makes a planet "habitable," here on Earth and elsewhere in the Universe. These seminars are open to everyone with an interest in Earth, the solar system and beyond.
The speakers present a 45-minute seminar that highlights their ideas and work in the sub-discipline of scholarship that addresses Habitability. They come from diverse disciplines, including astronomy, philosophy, planetary science, climate science, and more. Faculty and students affiliated to PHAB are encouraged to attend, the seminars are open to anyone in the community who has an interest.
The seminars are curated and hosted by the scientific team at the Centre for Planetary Habitability (PHAB).

Who was Johannes Kepler?
Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) was a renowned German mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer, famous for formulating the three laws of planetary motion that revolutionized our understanding of how planets orbit the sun. Kepler played a pivotal role in the scientific revolution, paving the way for Isaac Newton's laws of universal gravitation and significantly influencing the development of modern physics.
