Solar observations and space-weather research

More than 30 participants from several continents shared their work and discussed current questions concerning solar radiation and its effects on space weather.

Among the speakers was RoCS’s Petra Kohutova, who presented observations from the cryogenically cooled infrared spectrograph at the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope. These observations help researchers understand waves and structures in the solar corona, offering a closer look at how energy travels from the Sun into interplanetary space.

Petra’s project, MultiSCORE (internal link), recently received funding through the Research Council of Norway’s FRIPRO scheme for groundbreaking research. The project investigates the structure of the Sun’s atmosphere and its influence on space weather.
