Running Mathematica

Make sure you have /astro/local/bin in your PATH or run module load mathematica

Text mode: math

Graphics mode: mathematica

Running the first time:

When running Mathematica the first time, you may see a "Activate online" screen.

  • Press the "Other ways to activate" button
  • Select "Connect to a network license server"
  • Enter alruba2.uio.no and press the "Activate" button

Note to MacOS users

If you get the following error message when running mathematica on a linux machine and displaying over X11 on your MacOS machine:

libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast

run the following command and restart X11:

defaults write org.macosforge.xquartz.X11 enable_iglx -bool true

Licenses

We only have 3 mathematica licenses, so please quit mathematica when you are not actively using it.
