Astronomy software

CARTA is the Cube Analysis and Rendering Tool for Astronomy, a new image visualization and analysis tool designed for the ALMA, the VLA, and the SKA pathfinders developed by Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA), Inter-University Institute for Data Intensive Astronomy (IDIA),  National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) and Department of Physics, University of Alberta.

Casa, the Common Astronomy Software Applications package, is being developed by NRAO with the primary goal of supporting the data post-processing needs of the next generation of radio astronomical telescopes such as ALMA and VLA.

CFITSIO is a library of C and Fortran subroutines for reading and writing data files in FITS (Flexible Image Transport System) data format made by NASA HEASARC.

GILDAS is a collection of  software oriented toward (sub-)millimeter radioastronomical applications (either single-dish or interferometer) created and maintained by IRAM (Institute de Radioastronomie Millimétrique in Grenoble, France.

Miriad is a radio interferometry data reduction package of particular interest to users of the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). It can be used for the reduction of continuum and spectral line observations from beginning to end, starting with the loading of the data (either FITS, the ATNF RPFITS or old BIMA formats) through to image synthesis, analysis and display with publication quality graphics.

SAOimage DS9 is an image display and visualization tool for astronomical data created by Center for Astrophysics at Harvard.
