Everyone had been anxiously waiting for the day of the solar eclipse. However, as the day got closer and closer, it became more and more obvious that Oslo would be covered in clouds and that it would be impossible to observe the eclipse.
Still, dozens of people still decided to show up to the University of Oslo to try and get a peek and, against all odds, after waiting for two hours, we were able to see the Moon covering the Sun for just a couple of minutes! While waiting, we were able to talk to different people about astronomy and the work that goes on at ITA.
In the images below, you can see the progression of the clouds slowly moving away and revealing the partial solar eclipse behind them.
WARNING: Never look directly at the sun with the naked eye, binoculars or camera! These pictures were taken with a special camera that has a solar filter. This attenuates the sun's intensity so much that it is safe to look at the sun without burning your eyes or camera.
