Cosmology Seminar: Francisco J. Maldonado - Constructing new ghost and singularity free theories of gravity AND Miguel Mendez Isla - Indirect searches for dark matter with cosmic-ray detectors and the Square Kilometre Array

Francisco J. Maldonado and Miguel Mendez Isla are both visiting from University of Cape Town (UCT).

Constructing new ghost and singularity free theories of gravity.

In this talk I will present a new theory of gravitation, that can be constructed taken into account infinite derivatives and a non-necessarily symmetric connection. I shall provide linear solutions to the field equations that are proved to be ghost and singularity free. Finally, I will give a hint of the open problems in this subject.

Indirect searches for dark matter with cosmic-ray detectors and the Square Kilometre Array
If dark matter particles annihilate, then we should be able to detect signals of this annihilation in the sky.  In this talk I will present the latest relevant advances in dark matter indirect searches focusing on the $e^{+}/e^{-}$ final state. In addition, I will compare the expected fluxes from the annihilation with the latest results of the cosmic-ray positron flux from the AMS-02. Conversely, secondary signatures are also produced in the interaction  of $e^{+}/e^{-}$ with the galactic environment. In particular, I will talk about the synchrotron radiation and I shall provide sensitivity constraints for dark matter parameter space with the Square Kilometre Array.
