AFU meeting 15.02.21

MNSU:
- Meeting last week.
- Talked about opening up the University again, difficult to say when. It is possible to send an application if you want to sit at the institute. Not sure how this works for first year students.
- We did well on the «studiebarometer».
- Talked about course evaluation.
- Last year the master students got one month postponement on their thesis because of the corona situation. A good chance this happens this year as well.
LAMU: Nothing to report
Institute board meeting:
- First meeting on Thursday. Our contact to the institute.
- On the list: facilitation and postponements, new subjects in the master program, course evaluations.
- Suggestions from us:
*Include courses that contain more statistics, fluid mechanics and general relativity course with Øystein.
*The master students should group rooms.
*It is cold in the basement.
*Courses for the first years students: AST5210 – several people are having a hard time solving exercises from home. Do not receive sufficient amount of help. A zoom session where we can ask questions?
*If the situation continues, improved guides on how students shall work/solve problems should be provided to the students.
Social events:
- Have a lot of money, have not spent anything yet this year.
- Cabin trip? Not sure what happens, have to see how the situation develops. We can’t do it now. One suggestion is to have in the spring/early summer or right after the last exam in the in the beginning of summer.
- Eat out in a restaurant when that is ok? At least have some sort of «markering» at the end of the school year.
- Plane/train tickets to Molde? Cafés and pubs are open there!
- Digitale game nights.
- Go ice skating on Sognsvann and make a bonfire.
Other:
- Weekly lunch hang out on zoom (not necessarily every week). Tuesdays at 13 and Fridays at 14. First gathering Friday 19.02.21 at 14.
