The Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope (AtLAST) is designed to be the largest (sub-)millimeter single-dish astronomical observatory and the first climate-neutral modern research infrastructure. AtLAST features a 50m diameter primary mirror, a >1 deg field of view, a high scanning speed (up to 3 deg/s), and high surface accuracy (20 micron over the full 50-m surface) allowing observations up to ~1 THz. AtLAST's unrivalled throughput of A x FoV ~ 6170 m^2 deg^2 will enable wide-field (>500 deg^2) unbiased surveys. AtLAST will be transformational for science goals requiring (sub-)mm observations with a wide field of view, highly multiplexed instrumentation, arcsec-scale resolution, and high sensitivity from arcsec to deg scales, which no other facility can deliver. AtLAST's new bold vision of a sustainable pursuit of breakthrough astronomy is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of scientific research infrastructures.
