Building a bridge between European and American education communities

Ben Zwickl is an important resource to the centre, who works closely with many of our researchers.

Ben Zwickl decided to spend his sabbatical at CCSE during the fall of 2023, where he looked at the career decision making among Norwegian physics students. He talked to students from Stavanger, Tromsø, Trondheim and Oslo, to get a general idea of how the layout of physics programs affects how students form interests within different areas in physics. Ben wanted to work with CCSE in hopes of building a bridge between the American and European education communities.

At the start of 2024 he was hired to work part time at CCSE. His main focus has been to co-supervise in projects about how students learn computational literacy at an advanced level, and how we can use AI tools to understand qualitative data sets. He also wants to look at how education within quantum technology will develop, as the field itself is new and also developing.

Ben is a resource who expands and strengthens the centre.
