DigiWind Kick off at DTU Wind and energy systems in Risø, Denmark, January 25-26

DigiWind is a collaboration between universities and companies from five leading wind nations – Denmark, Poland, Norway, Ireland, and the Netherlands. DigiWind eductions will bring lots of digital competencies to wind and energy systems engineering.

DigiWind is a new strategic flagship project where CCSE is among the partners: With our partners, we’re going to educate future engineers and workforces in wind energy #digitalisation – and we're doing it by digitalising the way we educate.

As the wind industry continues to grow, the need for a skilled workforce is on the rise. Through DigiWind, we aim to address this demand on a global scale with new digital masters and continuing education programmes.

  1. The first track is about high-performance computing, including cloud computing, edge computing, quantum computing and more.
  2. The second one is AI and Machine Learning, focusing on how we can bring more AI applications, data-driven algorithms, and big data analysis into the realm of wind and energy systems.
  3. And the third one is cybersecurity, which is becoming more and more relevant to us as the importance of cybersecurity is increasing with further digitalisation in many of our energy applications.

The digital curriculum is going to be facilitated via emerging technologies such as mixed realities and augmented realities and a very innovative, different teaching platform at a virtual campus.

By the end of the project, an estimated 900 Master of Science engineers will have graduated, and 10000 will have received continued education through DigiWind, distributed on 13 new or updated programmes within digital technologies in wind and energy systems.

DigiWind partners are:

  • DTU - Technical University of Denmark
  • Gdansk University of Technology
  • University of Oslo (UiO)
  • Irish Manufacturing Research
  • Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
  • Whiffle
  • F6S
  • Delft University of Technology
  • Technological University of the Shannon
  • Cadpeople.

The project is funded the European Union’s European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) .
