Abstract
This final year project focuses on the Central Indian Ridge (CIR)
between the Egeria Fracture Zone (FZ) and
the Rodrigues Triple Junction. It aims at studying the oceanic crust
formed in the last 10 Myrs based on new
data collected during the French-German expedition RHUM-RUM (Reunion
Hotspot and Upper Mantle –
Reunion’s Unterer Mantel) and other available geophysical data. The
results of this seismic experiment are
expected to lead to a better understanding of how the Reunion hotspot
supplies magma to the CIR thanks to
lateral and vertical flows spreading in the asthenosphere
